About Kerstine

Physiotherapy

KHPhysiotherapy is owned and run by me… Kerstine.

I qualified as a physiotherapist from Nottingham University in 2014 after returning as a ‘super’ mature student. Prior to this I served 10 years as a fire-fighter, leaving to work in the NHS so I could build experience towards starting my degree.  After several roles within various companies and the NHS I knew I wanted my patients to have a much more personalised, hands on experience so I set up KHPhysiotherapy here in James Street in Kimberley.

My goals for every patient are to provide them with a comfortable, welcoming environment and give them the support, education and advice for them to be able to take ownership of their condition and move forwards along their road to recovery. Setting up my business in my community means I can support local people and hopefully continue to develop links between local GPs, groups and businesses. I have a good relationship with Kimberley Leisure Centre and several local PTs and trainers.  I have invested in my own development so I can add an extra dimension to my knowledge.

I currently specialise in Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy which means I treat anything from toes and feet right up to neck and back.  I have a keen interest in running injuries and offer a full gait analysis as one of my services.  Personally I like to keep fit and through the years have been an active triathlete, rower and runner. In 2016 I took on my first ultramarathon event and since then have completed several long distance events.  I’m a two time finisher of the gruelling West Highland Way Race and one of the most beautiful events I completed was The Ring of Fire, a 3 day event running along the coastal path round Anglesey.  2020 was a tough year and I kept sane by running a lot.  I completed 75km, running laps round Kimberley Cricket Club.  I love going to the gym to work out and continue to be a keen runner.

In 2020 I started running in barefoot sandals and so far the longest run I have completed is the 34 mile Firelighter event on Anglesey.

I run for my local running club ‘Ilkeston Running Club’ and am also a member of Vegan Runners; as myself and my partner switched to a plant based diet in 2019.  I love doing Park Runs and my partner and I are working towards finishing our alphabeteer challenge and our 50th different park run venue. We’ve loved travelling around the country in our campervan exploring new places and making new friends.

In 2022 I injured my ankle so wasn’t able to run much, through a friend I discovered Hyrox.  I took part in the event down in London and was chuffed to qualify for the world championships, sadly they were in Vegas and it was a bit too soon to save up.  2023 has seen me compete again, just missing out qualifying by 10 seconds.  Lets see if I can rectify that later in the year.

Myself and my partner Steve have an allotment which we took on during lock down in 2020, this allows us to grow a lot of our own produce which we are really proud of.  My daughter stared university last year and has started running and going to the gym (which has made me even more proud of her) I love life and don’t see exercises as a chore.  Life is for living, and keeping my mind and body healthy means I’m ready to handle the adventures it throws at us.
